Resistance training raises the metabolic rate which is an important factor in weight loss. Research has shown that regular resistance exercise can increase your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) by up to 15% so for someone burning 2000 calories per day that's a potential of 300 extra (more than a Mars bar burned every single day).

There is some evidence that resistance exercise helps lower moderately high blood pressure.

Women who lift weight do NOT develop bulky muscles, or resemble Russian weight lifters.  Muscle growth is largely dependant on the male hormone testosterone.  In women, exercising in the correct range will enhance muscle tone giving a firmer shapelier figure.

It only takes 30 minutes to complete a fully body workout during which time you will burn many calories, shape and tone your body and improve your cardiovascular fitness.  With unlimited access and no need to book your workout sessions, our gym can fit into your work and social lifestyle. 

Our HUR tried and tested 4 Phase FIT Training Programme has enabled our members to achieve phenomenal results. 

Phase 1   Low intensity        building muscle mass

Phase 2   Medium intensity   figure shaping, toning, inch & weight loss

Phase 3   High intensity        acceleration inch & weight loss until reach a BMI of 23

Phase 4   Medium intensity   weight maintenance

We offer a unique non intimidating environment for our ladies to exercise by boasting no men and no mirrors.  Our gym is light and airy with large windows throughout allowing natural fresh air to circulate whilst you are doing your workout.


The circuit features HUR natural transmission pneumatic resistance equipment, which allows for a quiet, safe and effective workout, with no damaging impact to joints and connective tissue. Your muscles will be worked to their full potential so that your fitness and weight management ambitions are achieved through improving your metabolic rate.

Increased muscle tone improves speed, co-ordination and agility.  It does NOT take ages to get results - study  after study has shown that high quality workout lasting just 20 minutes performed 2 times a week can bring substantial improvements in your strength, muscle tone and bone density. Muscles that are toned are on standby all day and burn more energy.  By resistance training you will begin to increase your muscular mass that starts up an engine that will be burning fat all day every day.  For 1lb of muscle you gain, your body burns around 50 extra calories every day of the week.

Begin by warming up, stretching then onto the circuit. The weight resistance for each machine is totally configured at a touch of a button to enable you to workout at your own pace and to your own ability. Join the circuit at whichever station is free and move around with ease, changing stations when prompted. Complete two circuits then finish by cooling down and stretching.

To accelerate your results we tailor an exercise programme to meet your individual needs, our Personal Trainers will design some targeted exercises that will focus on your short term goals with the areas of your body you want to accelerate and improve first.

We know you will enjoy the atmosphere, the music and the company of friends old and new. The circuit has been specially designed with you in mind so you can talk to each other as you do your workout.  The current age range of our members is 12 years to 78 years and three main categories of members (Weight loss, Rehabilitation and Athletes).

There will always be fully qualified instructors on hand to guide and encourage you.
You will be impressed with how easy the equipment is to use and how quickly the time will pass. We know you will enjoy each and every visit. 

When you join us we will book you in for a 1 hour Induction, this is where we go through a medical and lifestyle questionnaire, understand why you have decided to join the gym and what your goals are.  We then will record your height, weight, body fat percentage, blood pressure and the key measurements across your body. Your Personal Trainer will then write a personalised fitness program for you and then give you a full induction in the gym.  Throughout your time with us you will stay with your Personal Trainer and build up a close working relationship.  You will have regular reviews with them and we will provide you with a print out of your weight and inch loss achievements frequently to keep you motivated.

You will have the choice to join a conventional gym, but we know that you won't get the same VIP treatment and they won't be there to support you in achieving your goals which is central to the success of our ladies here at F.I.T.
